What is MusicFX?

MusicFX is Google's AI music generation experiment that creates original music tracks from text descriptions. Powered by Google DeepMind's music generation models (including Lyria), MusicFX can produce music in virtually any genre, mood, or style - all from a few words of description.

Whether you need background music for a video, a beat for a creative project, or just want to explore AI-generated music, MusicFX makes it accessible to everyone regardless of musical training.

Creating Music from Text

To generate music with MusicFX, you write a text description (prompt) that describes the kind of music you want. The more descriptive your prompt, the better the results.

1. Open MusicFX

   Navigate to MusicFX from the Labs.Google homepage or go directly to the experiment.

2. Write Your Prompt

   Describe the music you want to hear. Include genre, mood, instruments, tempo, and any other musical characteristics.

3. Generate

   Click Generate. MusicFX will produce several variations of your described music, typically 20-30 second clips.

4. Listen and Iterate

   Preview each variation. If you like a track, download it. If not, refine your prompt and generate again.
